The Assisted Living Experience

Today’s seniors can expect an active, vibrant lifestyle in their community with the events and activities tailored to their preferences and abilities. While you will still find opportunities to play perennial favorites like bingo and bridge, the communities of today truly think outside the box when creating ambiances and programming for their residents.

Our communities are designed with comfort in mind, and we go the extra mile to ensure our residents feel happy, secure, and inspired. We maintain secure perimeters to keep our residents safe, and our expert and attentive team members make sure each resident is well cared for and listened to.

Who is Right For Assisted Living?

Many seniors and their families struggle with how to know when it’s time for Assisted Living or other senior care options. It’s common for families to initially be hesitant or for their loved ones to refuse these options because of preconceived ideas of senior housing or denial of care needed.

Community Services

These communities provide services that make daily living simpler for retirees. From housekeeping and household maintenance to transportation, here are a few services available.

Personal Care

The main feature of these communities is the availability of personal care services from a team of professionals, including a nursing team. While the breadth of these services varies from community to community, they are often able to assist residents with daily personal care such as personal hygiene, dressing, medication reminders, and daily health checks.

Daily Dining

A culinary experience inspires emotion, from the nostalgic aroma of bread in the oven to the warm comfort of a perfectly-seasoned soup on a rainy day. Families can rest assured knowing their loved one is served delicious meals each day, while eliminating the need to go to the grocery store. We combine the joys of dining with the nutrition experts say our residents need to live a healthy life.

Housekeeping and Laundry

Residents living in Assisted Living can worry less about household chores such as dusting, vacuuming, and laundry. These communities and their professional team members provide services like daily tidying-up, weekly housekeeping, laundry, and linen services to make each day easier.

Transportation

Assisted Living communities provide individual and group transportation to help their residents safely complete their errands, attend appointments, or get out and about for shopping and fun. Residents can ride safely with a professional driver and receive any needed assistance while at their destination.

Daily Life

More Enjoyment Every Day

At Senior Lifestyle, we’ve developed a robust calendar of engaging programming, from inspiring creative classes to lively happy hours to holiday parties and lecture series. These vibrant schedules and environments reduce the risk of senior isolation and depression in our residents. Our programming caters to every level of care, and are designed to include all residents.

Learning and Discovery

There are many ways for today's active seniors to expand their world from inside their communities. Art and education classes have become a staple on monthly calendars, along with seminars on topics such as historical figures and wellness. Book, poetry, and writing clubs have also become popular, providing another way for seniors to grow and express themselves in the new community.

Active and On-the-Go

Staying active can keep seniors enjoying the hobbies and lifestyle they love. Physical activities for seniors in these communities have become an important part of the daily routine. From walking clubs, tai chi, and water aerobics to adapted exercises such as balance classes and chair yoga, seniors of all ability levels can find a structured exercise class or activity that keeps them healthy and on the go.

Friends and Fun

Part of the appeal of Assisted Living is that it provides a natural, comfortable setting to meet other seniors and build friendships. Communities focus on planning social events that encourage interaction including happy hours, movie nights, and trips to local eateries, making it simple to make connections and form friendships.

Places for Pets

Pets are an important source of love and companionship for seniors. Today's Assisted Living communities understand that connection and welcome these special friends. Many events and activities are pet-friendly too, making it easy for pets to feel equally at home and at ease in the community from the start.

Though costs vary, Genworth estimates a monthly cost between $1603 and $4300 for Assisted Living in the U.S. in 2020. The top factors that impact price are the location, number of services offered such as housekeeping and dining, and amenities provided such as fitness gyms and pools. Additionally, the health care needs of a resident can also impact cost, as a higher level of care may require more healthcare services.

Medicaid may help cover the cost of Assisted Living, including Memory Care, but not everyone is eligible. Medicaid eligibility requirements, programs, and benefits vary from state to state, so you may need to take a closer look at your situation, your state’s Medicaid policies, and the policies of the community in consideration.

Though Medicaid can offset the costs of Assisted Living, Memory Care, skilled nursing, and emergency response systems, Medicaid will not cover room and board.

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) offers medical, operative, and post-operative benefits to help aging veterans. Like other military aid programs, the VA will determine if your particular discharge was deemed honorable.

The VA has a set of eligibility requirements for VA health care benefits with specific parameters, and you’ll need to apply for these benefits. Schedule a meeting with a retirement community near you for information on VA benefits and policies.
