Meet Tena Meyer, an activity director from Homestead House who demonstrates that you’re never too old to display a heart of caring. Her many years of dedication and investment in the lives of the residents she encounters are a true testimony to the depth of her care for those she serves.
“Tena is 100% here for the residents. At 80 years old, she has never missed a day, never been late…she is compassionate, dedicated, loyal, caring and just an amazing person.”
Tena’s dedication and care for her role spans over 15 years, during which time she has gone above and beyond to serve the residents and plan activities that truly enrich their daily lives.
“Tena includes all of our residents in daily activities. She does exercises six times a week, hosts holiday parties, birthday parties, bingo, cards, etc. She makes welcome baskets for all new residents, and sends cards to those who are leaving.”
“She is always looking for new ideas to do with the residents; she is always smiling.”
The heart of caring Tena displays to residents and team members alike is not contained within just the four walls of Homestead House, but reaches out to influence the entire local community.
“We recently had a surprise 80th birthday party for Tena. I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said over 100 people from our community came, people who know her both in and out of the workplace. Tena is a perfect example of a selfless person; she is always willing to help.”
