Every December, Autumn Green at Midway Village hosts the Alderman Breakfast.
It’s a great chance for residents and their guests to speak with their alderman over some delicious food. This was 13th Ward Alderman Marty Quinn’s second year as the guest of honor since succeeding former Alderman Frank Olivo. Commander McNaughton, Community Representative Barb Ziegler, and even Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy made an appearance!
“We had no idea Superintendent McCarthy would be showing up,” says Kimberly Hernandez, Activities Director at Autumn Green at Midway Village. “What a nice surprise!”
The Alderman Breakfast was a merry time for everyone involved. Carmen Navarro, Principal at Mariano Azuela Elementary School, was also in attendance. Navarro’s students participate in a number of fun activities with residents, including arts and crafts projects and an ongoing pen pal program.
“Mariano Azuela is a wonderful school right next door to us,” says Hernandez. “We love to have them involved!”
Residents enjoyed mixing and mingling with friends, family, and their elected officials. They even received festive holiday mugs and candy!
