April Poems: “Home Life” by Helen Brezney

In celebration of National Poetry Month, poets in Senior Lifestyle communities across the country are sharing their inspiring words.

Today’s poem is written by Helen Brezney from Parkside Manor in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Home Life

My folks came from Poland,
To find a new home.
The priest was their sponsor,
So they didn’t feel alone.
Mom made our dresses,
Knitting warm things for hands and our feet.
Dad shook the fruit trees –
The worms weren’t a treat.
The park was our playground,
While laughter abound.
Mom always knew where to find us,
Playing volley and softball.
Good care and love given,
For one and for all.
