Where We Are Today

Staff Vaccination Update

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic Senior Lifestyle has worked to protect the health and well-being of our residents and team members.  Our efforts have included the provision of personal protective equipment for our community, screening and testing residents and staff, contact tracing, enhanced disinfection of common areas, and hosting on-site vaccination clinics.  With the recent onset of the Delta variant, Senior Lifestyle is requiring all team members to be fully vaccinated as a condition of their employment (as permissible by state law).  When considering a move to a Senior Lifestyle community, please feel free to ask about all we are doing to maintain the health and safety of our residents and staff.

Vaccine Programs & Partnerships

Senior Lifestyle participated in the priority vaccination program for senior living communities sponsored by the federal government. The results have been nothing short of spectacular. And, we have made arrangements with our pharmacy partners to provide vaccines to new residents and team members who may not yet have been vaccinated. These relationships will also cover any needed booster vaccines if they are recommended.

Back To Normal?

All Senior Lifestyle communities continue to maintain enhanced infection control procedures and while we have reopened our doors to visitors, where permitted by state and local rules, we continue to request all visitors and team members to wear masks when in our communities. Importantly, we are open and accepting new residents and our communities are once again becoming hubs of activity – due in large measure to the success of the senior living vaccination program.

Certain protocols in Senior Lifestyle communities have permanently changed. For example, our infection control program has been updated to adhere to the most current guidelines. Other procedures for new move-ins, visitors and group activities continue to evolve based upon federal, state and local requirements. We’re not quite back to normal yet, but it seems we are moving in that direction and making good progress every day.

A Look Back

At the outset of the pandemic, Senior Lifestyle acted proactively to keep our then current residents safe. We made the decision to not accept new residents until we learned more about the virus and how it was spread. We worked diligently to obtain necessary personal protective equipment and restricted participation in many of the group activities we offer to our residents. We immediately put in place protocols to screen all residents and team members on a regular basis to check for symptoms of the disease. We enhanced cleaning and infection control in our communities and made arrangements with national laboratories to implement comprehensive testing, when necessary and appropriate. We met or exceeded all recommended procedures that were put in place by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and state or local authorities.

As the pandemic progressed, we adapted our procedures and worked to engage our residents in safely distanced activities, facilitated virtual and outdoor visitation opportunities, the latter where allowed by state and local requirements, and cautiously reopened our doors to new residents. Senior Lifestyle participated, and continues to participate, in a number of educational programs to keep abreast of the evolving knowledge related to the virus and the appropriate ongoing response.
